| It
is the first time that the business has entered the
awards.
The top three positions
went to Leamington Spa-based Focus Solutions Group
plc, a specialist provider of sales automation solutions
for the financial services industry, which recorded
a turnover growth of 531 per cent; Ridgian Ltd, a
custom software solution provider based in Birmingham,
with 333 per cent; and financial software product
supplier Exasoft Ltd, based in Coventry, with 325
per cent.
The Pinsent Curtis Biddle special award for maintained
fast growth went to last year's winner, Newark-based
Project Telecom plc, which has this year taken control
of Shrewsbury-based Ternhill Communications.
Chris Robertson, technology
media and telecommunications partner for Deloitte
in the Midlands, said: "In a year of extraordinary
adversity and when achieving growth remained the single
biggest challenge faced by the technology sector,
companies like these Fast 50 winners have demonstrated
how to achieve excellence in a niche market.
"While 2002 was a period of retrenchment and
soul searching for technology companies, during which
many elected to rethink their core business strategies,
these finalists have continued to reinvent themselves
in difficult circumstances.
"The technology
sector is now a buyers' market in terms of human capital,"
continued Mr Robertson.
"As staff turnover is no longer an issue, these
companies can concentrate on upgrading the quality
of their people.
"While there are no immediate signs that a recovery
is under way, we are seeing these companies position
themselves to take advantage of opportunities as and
when they arise."
